Richard Hards - Let's decant

Let's decant is a site specific intervention at Chalton Gallery where the windows and the ceiling lights have been removed, repurposed and programmed to produce a work that acoustically reverberates around the space and on to the street. Windows are hung from the ceiling and leant against the wall, being hit by motors, and ceiling light fixtures strewn across the floor, triggered by the vibrations of the glass to light up the back gallery space. The generated sounds are noisy yet composed, providing an intermittent disruption of the exhibition.

Let's decant is a response to the social and acoustic spaces of the gallery and its local area, stripping the space back and using the architectural features with and against itself.
