Cristobal Gracia (1987) lives and works in Mexico City.
Bachelor of Fine Arts, Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda”, honorable mention 2006 – 2010.
SOMA PES, full study program 2011 – 2013.
His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico, USA, The United Kingdom, Italy, Ecuador and Argentina.
Starting from the research and connection oh historical events, mixing them with a touch of humor, science fiction, irony and violence Cristobal Gracia´s work challenges the construction of a present built and regulated by ideological and power structures imposed over time. He is co-director of Bikini Wax, an independent platform of production, discussion and exhibition of contemporary art in Mexico City. He is a current recipient of the Arte Actual BBVA Bancomer – MACG grant and the Young Creators grant of the National Fund for Culture. In 2012 Cristóbal Gracia was an artist-in-residence at VIR Via Farini (Milan, Italy), in 2015 he was invited to do a residence as part of the Biennial of the Americas by ArtPlant in Denver, Colorado, USA and current artist in residence at Grand Union in Birmingham, UK.
